Complete with seamless co-ordination of the Penning in ; everyone mucking in on the food and the Club humming with members old and new alike the weather and wind were the icing on the cake for the Cruisers who went out in numbers for the Cruise in Company.
For those wanting to John assessed the times to work out who was the fastest boat on the water and well done to the winner.
All in all a great day for the Club - let's make it the first of many this year.

Another Super slick Lift out from the Club and Commodore
Dry weather and a lack of breeze enabled a slick operation as usual with boats coming in and out and getting ready for their annual scrub up or getting wet following hard work from their owners . Enjoy wherever you are in this process !
Final Phase of the Pontoon upgrades !!
A couple of really focused Work Parties have been completing the Installation of the 3rd and final replacement of the Yacht Pontoons. Thanks to everyone involved and to the patience of the last boats who have awaited this upgrade for what seems like ages.

Regatta 2025 - We saw some Rays - just not Rays of Sunshine
Well done to everyone for making the 2025 GCYC Regatta a great success . Rhona for organising a great social programme and prizegiving which despite the rain on Saturday night threatening to put the BBQ out worked well on both days and it was great to see the Clubhouse full with Sailors , Fishers and supporters alike . Phil thoughtfully designed the race programme and courses to work for all levels of sailor and for us all to sail around the same courses and finish at roughly the same time . Weather generally played ball apart from a squall of biblcial proportions on Sunday afternoon affecting the last hour of sailing (and giving our boats a good wash) . With a steady hand on the tiller the Commodore calmly and smoothly co-ordinated all the boats in and out of the pen and the Lock Head staff were great all weekend. It was also great to witness the 'shearing' of Eddie for a worthy Child's cancer charity and there are rumours that next time Simon needs a haircut we need to hire a sheep shearer to do the same thing . The annual Fishing competition was well supported by local and visiting boats and thanks to Chris Pepper for his unique scoring system ! Well done to all the winners and participants and thanks to HCA for their support once again. Successful Cruise in Company and Club Social
7 Yachts braved the boisterous conditions on Saturday morning to enjoy a Sail in Company in the river followed by a social and Boat Jumble. Let's hope the wind dies a bit and we can enjoy warm sunny and less boisterous conditions (so that the Commodore doesn't spill his drink)

We can offer a penn or free flow entry via locks into the Royal Dock at any state of the tide with prior notice.

About our club....
Welcome to the Grimsby & Cleethorpes Yacht Club (GCYC). We are located near the town centre of Grimsby, where the Union Dock meets the Alexandra Dock and can be accessed 24 hours a day from the River Humber via the Royal Dock. (Channel 74) The club is situated at the junction of the A180 and Lockhill Road
We have about 50 yacht moorings available to members with the capability to take yachts up to 40ft. Moorings do become available so if you are looking for a mooring on the East Coast at very competitive rates please contact our moorings officer and check availability. Details under the membership section of this website.
We are able to lift out/lift in up to 9 yachts at a time at 3 times per year (Jan - May) to allow routine maintenance to take place
The club has a Cruiser Section, a Dinghy Section and is a recognised RYA Training Centre for Dinghy Training and Shorebased Courses. You can develop sailing skills, knowledge & experience and gain recognised qualifications with us. The club has both racing and cruising yachts up to about 40’ in length.
We encourage local youth groups (Grimsby Sea Cadets, Immingham Sea Cadets and Cleethorpes Sea Scouts etc) to use our facilities. The club also has an open water swimming section known as the Water Rats.
If we are not out sailing, you can find us in the Club House on Friday evenings 8pm till 11pm

Regatta 2025
From the Racing to the Social to the Fishing competition the 2025 regatta was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves immensley . As Regatta Race Officer and fresh from a holiday in France Phil set various courses to suit Racers , Cruisers and Slow Cruisers alike with the intended outcome being that everyone ended up sailing reasonably close to the other fleets as well as finishing at roughly the same time .On Sunday a deluge of biblcial proportions came down and drenched everyone within an hour of the finish but we all got round. Rhona the queen of organisers not only made sure everyone paid but organised a great BBQ on the Saturday and a lovely buffet for the Sunday alongside the prizegiving . Neither Phil or Rhona could have coped without the 'hand on the tiller' of the Commodore Simon Winship who co-ordinated 2 days of boats in and out of the pen as well as the usual handshakes and thanks that such dignitaries have to cope with . The Fishing Competition was once again co-ordinated by Chris Pepper and his 'scoring system' and was thoroughly enjoyed by our own fishers and those from away . Thanks to our friends from the HCA for supporting (and winning) - great to have good numbers across both clubs. We were also treated to Eddie Davies being 'shorn ' for Charity and selling his hair to make a child's wig for Cancer support - perhaps we could sell the Commodore's hair next time he decides to get a cut.

Another Slick Lift In Lift out delivered by the Club and the Commodore
The weather stayed dry and fine for the second lift in /out of the year alllowing about 9 sailors and their Yachts to trade ; some with the pleasure of watching their newly painted and polished yachts getting wet and covered in Sahara desert dust in minutes and some facing the daunting task of removing , repainting , fettling - all the hope of chasing that extra 0.1 knot across the water. Thanks to everyone who supported on the day and getting boats ready - continuing the Community nature of our club where everyone helps where they can
