The cadet section is open to children age 10 and over, the Cadets are supervised by fully qualified RYA Instructors. After the first month they are expected to provide their own buoyancy aid and wet suit.

Cadets meet on Wednesday evenings during the sailing season between 6:30pm - 8:00pm and for special events and courses during the school holidays.

Sailing courses are offered free of charge. The Club takes part in Championship events at other local clubs and all cadets who are competent can take part. The Section shares 4 Topper Dinghies, 3 RS Feva's and a Laser with the Training Centre, these boats are available for individual cadets to sail in organised club events and on cadet nights. During officially approved activities, cadets are the responsibility of the club, at all other times, whether on or off the water, they are the responsibility of their parents/ guardians.

The Club operates a Child Protection Policy and follows the guidelines laid down by the Royal Yachting Association.
